In the year
1221 St. Dominic founded an order dedicated to preaching and the
salvation of souls. In that tradition the Congregation of the
Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia was established in 1860 and
continues to this day to serve the Church in the apostolate of
Catholic education. In 25 schools in nine states, from
pre-school to college, the sisters strive to configure the
minds, hearts, and consciences of young people to the truth.
The
Dominican Sisters are known for this charism of devotion to the
truth and the priority of contemplation. Numbering over 200
sisters, they live within a monastic framework which offers a
balance of prayer, study, community life, and active apostolate.
A spirit of joy and fidelity to the Church marks their way of
life. Integral to the congregation's identity are devotion to
the Eucharist and to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The full white and
black habit and a fifteen-decade rosary are worn as a sign of
consecration.
Applicants
