| Founded
within the charism and heritage of Venerable Catherine McAuley,
under the patronage of Mary, Mother of Mercy, we are a
Pontifical Institute. We are dedicated to the "praise and
worship of the Triune God in gratitude for the boundless Mercy
which has been revealed to us through the works of creation,
redemption and sanctification" [Constitutions, 3].
With hearts wounded
by human suffering, we desire to relieve human misery through
the Heart of Jesus in the Church. Increasingly configured to the
Crucified Christ as Spouse, we profess the evangelical counsels
of chastity, poverty and obedience. A fourth vow of service to
the poor, sick and ignorant manifests the apostolic mission of
the Community to fulfill the corporal and spiritual works of
Mercy.
"Prayer is the
primary activity of the Institute" [Constitutions, 35] and
centers our vibrant common and apostolic life. We are committed
to professional preparedness as a means of availability for
service to the needs of the Church. |
