| The
Congregation of Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament was
founded in Mexico City in 1910 by the Servant of God, Maria del
Refugio Aguilar y Torres, who heeded God's call to reach out
with courage and love to the needs of her times: a Christian
education for children and youth.
Today, the Sisters
continue to respond to their charism in the Church by providing
children and youth with a Christian education in schools and
catechetical centers. They also visit the sick and the
imprisoned and assist in various parish and diocesan ministries.
As consecrated women, more than 700 Sisters strive ardently in
ten countries to extend their Eucharistic Mercedarian spirit of
adoration and praise to Jesus in the Eucharist, and filial love
and devotion to our Lady of Mercy, Mother of the Redeemer.
To fulfill the
Sisters' motto, "To Evangelize with Mary in the Light of the
Eucharist", applicants must have the desire for spiritual and
academic improvement, love for people, especially children and
youth, and must be of a healthy mind and body for service in the
Lord's vineyard. The age limit for applicants is 18-35. |
